Buck Completed and body mounted

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Hammered together the buck and got the body mounted on it. I padded the points where the body weighs the heaviest on the buck with some foam pieces. The casters make it very easy to roll around. Convenient.

Body Buck Almost done…

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Today I picked up the lumber for the buck and cut out all the panels and cut the 2×4’s to their proper lengths. Tomorrow I will pick up some casters and pound it all together and get the body on it.

Here is a link to the plans I am using: http://gtmbuild.com/galleries/misc/gtm_buck/GTM%20Buck%20Plans%20rev1.ppt
Only change I made is that I am not making the front portion to support the front end piece – I will probably hang that above the body to save space in the garage.

Body Buck Templates

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Since I am out of things to do until I get the powdercoated panels back, I decided to make a buck to store the body on. Today I just made the templates for the top of each plywood panel (there will be 3) that support the body. I measured and drew them onto cardboard, cut them out and then trimmed (if needed) to get them to fit the car’s contours decently. They fit really well and I will only have to trace them onto the plywood panels and cut them out. I’ll brace the panels, and maybe I’ll put some casters on it to make it movable.
