The holiday week started off this morning with a family picking up their new Factory Five! Carly D. surprised Hunter L. from Virginia with a Mk4 Roadster kit for Christmas. Today they came by along with family members Kent, Tanner, and Jen L. for a tour and to load everything up.

The build plans for their Mk4 are to install a 331 stroker, TKX transmission, 8.8″ solid axle with 3-link rear suspension, stainless steel side pipes, chrome roll bar, and 17″ Halibrand wheels. They are still trying to decide on paint with some blue and silver options being discussed.

They have to make their mind up fairly soon though as the goal is to graduate their Mk4 in time for Carly and Hunter’s wedding in September! We’re excited to see another family build get started, and look forward to seeing their photos from their big day. Congratulations!

Congratulations to customer Carl N. from Connecticut on graduating his Type 65 Coupe build! Carl picked-up his Coupe in Fall 2018, and did a bunch of cool customizations to make his Coupe truly one-of-a-kind.

Carl’s Gen 3 Coupe has a Blueprint 306 Ford engine with a Quick Time bell housing and a Tremec TKO 600 transmission. He installed a Mustang 8.8″ solid axle rear end with the 3-link rear suspension.

Carl made sure all of the scoops are functional to help provide air into the cabin as well as to the brakes (front and rear)! The heater valve has been relocated, and all of the aluminum panels have been painted with gold VHT engine paint. He also installed Dynamat, and the Gen 3 side window frames were modified to look even more period-correct!

The side pipes were cera-coated, and Carl made a valence pan for under the gas tank as well as a belly pan up to the foot wells in front. The holes in the rear spoiler are also functional. The Coupe features 15″ Halibrrand wheels, power steering, low back race seats, and front sway bar.

“I feel lucky that I was able do everything except windshield install myself,” said Carl. “Unfortunately, now that it’s winter with salt on the roads, driving it will have to wait!”

We’re excited to hear all about your driving stories (although we’re sure you did plenty of go-karting during your build), and hope you bring the Coupe by Factory Five soon so the crew can see all of your work in person!

Our customers always make our day when they send a message sharing their build progress, their stories, and how much they are enjoying their Factory Five projects. Customer Kie H. from North Ogden, UT started his build a little over a year ago, and has shared news of some exciting milestones he has recently reached. Read his story below.

Above: Kie starts his Mk4 Roadster for the first time.

“It’s been a total dream to own one even as early as high school in the 1970’s,” wrote Kie. “And to be honest life just seemed to get in the way, family first then dreams. Well enough of that. When I saw one of your brochures in the early 90’s, my dream was renewed. It just took 30 years to get here. Remember: never give up on dreams, they really do come true.”

“I’m a retired heavy equipment operator. Big boy toys that I’ve loved running and fixing them. But always really wanted to build cars. In the 80s, I restored two trucks: a ’47 Ford and a ’77 Ford high boy that really got me excited about this project even if it is 35 plus years later.”

“On October 11, 2024, my dream was delivered. I was over the moon with excitement, and I sure found out how many gearheads lived in my neck of the woods when the delivery truck showed up. I planned on pacing my self over a 4 year time frame to really build the car I wanted, not over the top but show worthy while also very drivable and can show lots of muscle when needed. Well, retired people are busy with all the grandkids, and what better way to bond than to build a car?! My grandsons have helped me do most of the riveting, and all they wanted was pizza and root beer afterwards.  My granddaughters can’t wait to put carpet in and put their touches on it. Everyone wants something to do, and it is getting done much faster than expected.”

Above: Will rivet for pizza!

“My wife finds all my parts I ask her for. I tell her what I need, she finds the highest quality at the best price. I guess that’s what accountants do… manage money and I’m OK with that.”

“We’ve installed a 408 stroker that has lots of torque, 500 peak horsepower at around 6,000 RPM. Some basic comforts we’re installing are heated seats, phone charger, pleather console, and door pockets. My wife says we don’t need a fancy interior, just all business.”

Above: Kie go-karts his Mk4 Roadster for the first time around his neighborhood.

“I’m painting the Mk4 myself along with the expert help of my neighbor. He’s painted many classics that all look beautiful and have been in many of our local shows. The color will be brandywine red with light gray stripes ghosted in.”

“I can honestly say this has been one of the most difficult, but also one of the most rewarding educational things I have ever taken on. So many things I didn’t know yet, and so many are willing to help. It’s true built, not bought! Building this has made me realize it’s not about the car. It’s about the journey, friendships, and just all-around pride of accomplishment.”

“Thanks to my younger brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson, my neighbors, and of course my lovely wife. I’m still over the moon that I’m building one!”

Congratulations on your first start and go-kart, Kie! We’re so happy to hear how much fun you are having building your Mk4 Roadster. We look forward to seeing more progress updates, and ultimately, your graduation post.

Anthony and Evelyn Bellow started dreaming of building a Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod in 2009. They both were serving in the Marines at the time, and their constant moving made it hard to get started on a build.

Earlier this year, they started their Hot Rod build! Anthony is a pilot and Evelyn is a nurse, so with their schedules, they get about 6 days off in a row together. That is when they work on their Hot Rod build. “It’s a good way we both unplug from work and enjoy time together,” said Anthony. “We are both big Formula 1 fans, and we sometime watch the races while sitting in the car in the garage.”

Their Hot Rod build features a Gen 3 Coyote with TKX 5-speed transmission, solid axle rear end, and 4-link rear suspension. They’ve reached the big milestone of test driving their Hot Rod with Anthony recently sharing photos of Evelyn taking the ’33 for some test rips around the neighborhood. They’ve also started the body work process and are finishing up installing hood hinges and door latches.

Thanks for sharing your build! We look forward to more updates on your Hot Rod adventures.

“This car is giving me such joy and fun!” – Bill E.

Congratulations to customer Bill from Woodway, TX on completing his Mk4 Roadster build, FFR #10717! Bill took delivery of his Mk4 in June 2023 with his first start and go-kart following in November of that year. The car was titled and registered in July 2024, and the paint and finishing touches we completed in August 2025.

“I have enjoyed the entire process,” write Bill on The Factory Five Forum. “It was a vision I had some 20 years ago. I can’t say how much I enjoyed building this. People sometimes ask me what would I do different. The answer is nothing. I had done so much prior planning and research that I knew exactly what I wanted. If the opportunity comes for me to do another one I will. This community of friends is such a benefit of building a Factory Five.”

Bill built his Mk4 Roadster with a 564 HP 427 SBF with Holley Sniper, TKX transmission, IRS, Wilwood brakes, 18″ Halibrand wheels, leather seats, carbon fiber dash, wind wings, sun visors, wipers, and truck gas strut kit. The paint was done by Jeff Kleiner using Painthouse TX’s “Blurple” with “Crystal Laurite Silver” stripes. He has already driven his Roadster for about 3,000 miles with many more miles to come.

The big SEMA show is behind us, and as we approach the final month of the year, the Operations crew is engaged in a large scale overhaul and upgrade of our warehouse and inventory systems.

When we are done, we will be able to deliver to our customers faster order fulfillment, improved order accuracy, more secure packaging, and increased space that will allow us to carry more parts as well as a wider variety of new and hard-to-find parts. This effort is being done concurrently with the launch of our new online parts catalog targeted for the end of the year.

Unfortunately, the effort to improve means we may need longer-than-usual to ship current orders and backorders. If you are waiting on a part, we really appreciate your patience as we are doing our absolute best through the upgrade.

President

The Factory Five Build School is a hands-on experience that gives customers the knowledge and confidence to tackle their own builds and build lifelong friendships with like-minded people! Here’s a look at what happened during this past weekend’s class at Mott Community College.

Day 1 Initial Assembly

Day one went great! Students worked on the rear end, gas tank, front suspension, steering, e-brake, ride height, and rough alignment. By the end of the day, everyone had a strong start on the build and was ready for more hands-on learning.

Day 2 Systems and First Start

Day two was a blast! The class made it all the way to first start. Students got a visit from Paul B. with his gorgeous Type 65 Coupe, plus a few other customers joined for lunch.

Steering, drivetrain, and interior work continued, and the camaraderie among builders made the day even more enjoyable.

Day 3 Final Assembly and Test Drive

On the final day, the body went on the car, and one of the instructors took it for a test drive. The roar of the engine and seeing the car come to life was the perfect way to wrap up the class.

The Build School gives students hands-on instruction, insider tips from experts, and the confidence to tackle their own builds. Three days of learning, teamwork, and driving excitement make it an unforgettable experience.

3X NASCAR Champion, Joey Logano calls it his most FUN car of all time…it’s his Factory Five ’35 Hot Rod Drift Truck! And honestly, we get it.

In it is an 800–850 hp Roush-Yates NASCAR V8 hooked up to a sequential 5-speed. The custom tube-frame chassis keeps it light and stiff, with KONI coilovers up front and a three-link rear with a Ford 8.8″ to handle all that power.

The body’s hand-laid composite keeps it vintage-looking without the weight, and Joey even threw in some modern comforts like air conditioning. It looks great, sounds insane, and drives like a dream!

Our kits aren’t just cars, they’re experiences! Watch more below.
